VPN connection required for Web access

I've got this weird problem on one computer running XP Pro. I can only access
the web when I have my office VPN connection connected. If I disconnect the
VPN connection, I have no web access.

This computer is connected through my network to a router with a broadband
connection. The computer has a static IP on the network. Every other
computer on the network has no problem connecting to the Web regardless of
the VPN connection, so there's something wrong with this specific computer's
setup.

People have encouraged me to go under the VPN connection's TCP/IP menu,
Advanced, and uncheck the "remote gateway" box there. I've done that -- it's
not checked, but I'm still having problems.

One other difference I notice on this particular computer is that when the
computer connects to the Internet, a new connection icon appears under the
"Connections" control panel, called "Internet Connection". I've researched
this, and it's supposed to represent my router/gateway to the Internet and my
computer accessing it. But none of my other XP Pro computers on this network
have that icon appear.

I've run the Network Setup Wizard and the Internet Connection Wizard, and
I've told both that this computer is to access the Internet directly through
an always-on broadband connection, and it acts like it understands what's
going on, but nothing changes.

It's very odd -- I can access the Web, but ONLY when I use my VPN
connection. I've had situations on other computers in the past where I
couldn't access the Web when the VPN was on, but I've never had the reverse
-- where the VPN is actually REQUIRED to connect to the Web.

posting the routing table of the problem computer here may help.
