Remote Assistance - can not connect

John

I use win XP SP2 with outlook Express 6 - I tried to establish a connection
with a friend using Remote Assistance.

My friend sent an email invite to me - which I got - and followed the
instructions to launch the attachment etc. I saw the dialogue box that
asked for the password - filled that in - then saw a message "attempting to
connect" - then got this message.

"Remote Assistance connection could not be established because the remote
host name could not be resolved"

We both had Outlook Express open - we also tried shutting down our
firewalls - no good - same message - no connection.

(Friend also uses XP SP2 and Outlook Express 6) - both of us use Verizon
DSL

Any ideas?

Here are a few posts I found with a Google Groups search:

"Are you or the other person behind a firewall/NAT/router? If so, look
at this page that details how
Remote Assistance works in that case...

You may need to use the email or file invitation method and modify the
RCTICKET field of the invitation file...
