regedit, msconfig and taskmanger will not open.

When I try to run msconfig and regedit from the run window
or do a ctrl-alt-del the program opens for about 1 second
then closes again.

I have used 4 different anti-virus programs no viruses.
I have spy-bot and ad-aware and found nothing.

Hi Tom,

The viruses out there nowadays are very good at masking themselves from the
popular antivirus software. You are most definitely infected, but to rid
yourself of this you will need to work in Safe mode. Download stinger from
http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/ and then restart the system. At the point
where Windows is about to restart repeatedly tap the F8 key to get the boot
menu. Choose safe mode, then logon as administrator and run the stinger
tool. This should help remove the annoying little parasites.

For additional assistance in running the system tools the viruses are
blocking, see:

Another option it try is Trend Micro's Sysclean. Download it and the
signature file. Boot into safe mode and run it. It would probably be
best if you first disable system restore. AV cleaning should be done
from _safe mode_.

Did all the virus scans as suggested found nothing.

Is there a key in the registry that I can change to fix
this?

Hi Tom,

Did you do them in Safe mode as directed?

And do Doug Knox's emergency tools work?

The fact remains that you are still infected, despite what any AV scans are
telling you. When you are in Safe mode, can you open msconfig, regedit, and
task manager?
