I get the red X because the encoding on my internet
explorer is set for Western European (ISO). If I select
Western European (Windows) then everything gets
displayed. The only problem is I can only use Internet
Explorer 6 and I have to check the encoding for every page
I visit and I keep getting errors if I forget to do that.
I use SBC Yahoo DSL and want to use the Yahoo Browser but
it doesn't have the option to select the appropriate
encoding so I can't even use it. PLEASE HELP!
I tried re-installing Internet explorer with the custom
option and selecting the option for auto select but that
didn't do anything as far as I can tell.
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=283807 I've read and
implemented these suggestions to no avail.
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=817177 I've read this
and don't think this applies.
Do I need to re-install Windows 98? Can I do that without
wiping out the hard drive?
I know I keep asking about this but I keep hoping
something I say will click in someones mind and they can
help me with this. Thank you for trying.
