IE won't keep Western European encoding

I have set View/Encoding to Auto-Select and Western encoding. But IE does
not properly show accented characters on Spanish language pages. If I right
click, choose encoding and click Western European the characters show
correctly. But if I leave the page and come back, they are wrong again. How
can I get IE to hold the encoding?

Hi Ron :)

Try the following and see if it helps:

If you have the Google Toolbar or any other 3rd party toolbars installed,
disable it and see if that helps. If not, uninstall and reinstall it. If
you have Yahoo Companion, uninstall it.

Make sure the language you have selected to use is installed.

Check in IE>Tools>Internet Options>General>Accessibility
and Control Panel>Accessibility Options>Display

For normal viewing nothing should be checked in these sections. Also check
the setting in Control Panel>Accessibility Options>Display is set to Windows
Standard and make sure the High Contrast is not checked.

Go to>View>Encoding
Make sure the Auto Select is not checked, and language you want to use is
selected.
You might also try the Unicode (UTF-8)

Hope this helps.
