I merge an excel data sheet to word. The error message is "a ddc connection

Hi =?Utf-8?B?RGFybGVuZQ==?=,
I am using office 2000
Right. This error message is frustrating, because the problem is most often in the
Windows configuration. DDE is an older technology that's increasingly having
problems. Although for 2000 it certainly ought to work.

First thing you should check is in Excel: Tools/Options/General, I think it is.
There's a checkbox about ignoring requests from other applications. This will
prevent mail merge from setting up a DDE connection. By default it's not activated,
but you should check?

If that's not it, read through these Knowledge Base articles and see if anything in
there applies to your configuration
