problem with "Always ask before opening this type of file"

In my haste to save a file, I accidentally unclicked
the "Always ask before opening this type of file" window
and now whenever I try to save it file, it automatically
opens and places it in my temporary folders. This gets
really annoying, especially in one of those "no right
click" sites, leaving me unable to "save target as". I
have looked into sites to find a resolution. However,
the " View, Folder Options dialog box and select the File
Type" thing doesn't work for my internet explorer. I'm
assuming that it's because it is version 6.0. Is there
any other way to solve my problem?

What do you mean by the file type thing?
It should not matter that you have IE6.
If you unchecked the option, then this is the way to undo that.

You set this for each file type, e.g. for .zip
Explorer-View-Folder Options-File Types
Find the .zip association (may be WinZip File)
Edit, (or click Advanced on ME or XP) and check the "Confirm open
after download" box

The path to Folder Options may vary according to your operating
system. It may be:
Explorer-View-Folder Options
Explorer-Tools-Folder Options
Start-Settings-Folder Options
Start-Settings-Control Panel-Folder options.

Did you try this? It's not clear from what you wrote. If you did, what you
can try is deleting that file type from the list and then adding it back
after you get the dialog box back the next time you try to download a file
of that type.

You may have tried this, but I couldn't tell from what you wrote. Open
Windows Explorer, go to View/(Folder) Options, and select the File Types
tab. Find the file type that you have the problem with and double-click it.
In the resulting dialog box, put the check mark back in the box to Confirm
open after download.

I'm sorry, I should've made it clear. I mean by that when
I look at file type, I'm not sure what to delete or look
for under that category in order for the "Always ask
before opening this type of file" window pops up again on
my computer, as I do want it back when I click on a
download link and have options to either save or open it.
