Problem after installing updates

hi.

I'm running XP Home Edition SP1.

After installing several critical updates a few weeks ago (kb891711,
kb890175, kb871250, kb833987, kb885836, kb885835, kb873339, kb873376,
kb841533, kb841356, kb840987, kb810243 (sp2), Q322011 (sp2), Q327979 (sp2),
Q814995 (sp2)) I no longer get my Welcome screen when I start my computer. It
automatically logs me in and brings me to my desktop. I never get the option
to click on my username/icon. I tried going into Control Panel/User Accounts,
but the box to show the Welcome screen is already checked. Any suggestions on
how to bring back my Welcome screen?

Also, when I did my windows update I noticed that it installed several
updates with "SP2" at the end of them, but I don't have SP2 intalled on my
computer. Can I/should I uninstall them??

Thank you.

Did you just lose this ability, or right after you installed the above updates two weeks ago?

If after the updates, try doing a System restore to a day before this happen, a a restore point after the updates.

If you cannot do this, then try uninstalling them to see what happens?

It really is your choice, but sooner or later you'll need to install SP2. All the SP2 means is that they are Service Pack 2 related. You may want to consider installing the Service Pack. But if you keep your PC real secure, and don't mess around with downloading and visiting questionable websites, you should OK.

It happened right after I installed the updates. I can't do a System
Restore. If I uninstall the updates (all of them?) then do I try to reinstall
them?
