Plug & Play Configuration Error

My computer (XP SP2) has been giving me this error recently. Every few boots
it says "Plug & Play Configuration Error. Press F1 to Continue, F2 to run
utility". I haven't added any new hardware in a few years so I'm not sure
what is causing this. How can I troubleshoot it?

Hi Brian,

At a guess I would say that your BIOS is not holding the configuration data
while powered off. This usually indicates that the CMOS battery needs
replacing.
