Plug and Play BIOS extension error - how to fix?????

HI - I am having some PC problems and when I check device manager I see I
have an error with "PLUG AND PLAY BIOS EXTENSION" under system devices

Looking under properties - I see:

"Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration
information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)

Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device."

but clicking on troubleshoot has been useless.

Can anyone suggest the best way to remedy this problem.
