Hey Dexman!
Good News, or so I hope for you sake (lol). Here's what
you do:
locate the My Coputer
You can do this by clicking the start button then right
clicking on "My Computer"
Select "Properties"
this will open the information about your computer. At
the top you will notice tabs one of which says "System
Restore" make sure that the check-box that says "Turn Off
System Restore On All Drives" does not have a check mark
in it, if it does it will be shaded and you wont be able
to do anything from there. Follow the next steps.
Start button
click "Run"
type in the emty feild msconfig
and select the tab in the new window that open that
says "Services"
and look down the list for the item that says "System
Restore Services" make sure that that is checked off
then
Click at the top again to the very right where you see
the "Startup" tab and click to open that
make sure that the RECGUARD is checked off
also when done make sure you click apply then OK
it will ask you to restart your computer, you must allow
it to restart your computer for the changes to take effect.
I you want to make sure the systemn restore is working
again, go to the start button again and right click "My
Computer then sleect properties and it will bring you back
to your system informatio, from there you can select the
Systen REstore tab to see if the check box has been
reactivated.
NOTE: anyone that is running Windows XP Home Ediotion
Service Pack 1 can help you, you can verify what you
system is actually running from the system properties.
Let me know how you made out! Good Luck!
