I think this was the most recommended converter on the board last
year. It converts a wide range of audio formats quickly. A new
version will be out soon. There was some indication on the board that
the mp3 codec was going to require a fee. There is no indication of
that notes on the software site.

Susan
I found out from the forum on the site that the creator is being charged
by the owners of Fraunhofer a pretty substantial amount per mp3 codec.
With the version that is now beta there will be a $9 charge. The
version here is the last entirely freeware. It's still the best
converter out there as it stands now.

That doesn't match this:

as and compiles to native Windows code.

I was just trying to make it simpler... :-/

MinGW *is* an native Windows version of GCC, but to be able to compile the
C/C++/Fortran/etc. sourcecode to a native Windows program it needs all the
stuff mentioned in the site's description (header files, libraries,
compilers, linkers, etc.).
I'm having the same kind problem with your other descriptions. The
information you give in the description should be information *from* the
web page you point to. When I go to the web pages I should be able to
*find* the information you give in the description or something similar
to it. . .

Okay, I'll redo them with cut'n'paste-from-the-website-descriptions and
other changes like you ask below...
------

I need Source Forge download pages for for *all* releases (versions
usually change during the year) - I searched and found the one for this
app -

http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=2435

They are all easy to find: http://sourceforge.net/projects/{projectname}/
with {projectname} substituted by the project name, and then click on
"Files" in the horizontal "menu" near the top.
But I'll redo my descriptions somewhere in the next days.
The "LINK DESCRIPTION* should be "download page" and "alternate download
page".

Hm, the page above (http://www.mingw.org/download.shtml) gives more info
than the sourceforge page, but it links to the same sourceforge downloads.
Is it an "alternative download page" then?

*All* software on sourceforge is freeware: it's open source (you can
use/run the binaries without restrictions), downloads from sourceforge are
free for everyone, and you can redistribute them for free.
please either find out or leave it blank - "?" is no help. . .

Okay, I just meant that AFAIK it should work with all versions but I can't
check that myself... :)

It seems (from inspecting my installation) like they didn't include
translations.
URL for your author info? I found names and names and more names. . .

Those 3 were the first authors that started the project and made the first
useable versions, that's why I included their names.
The "e.a." is short for "and about a million other people". ;-)
TIA for the additional help. Apologies for needing it. . .

No problem! :)

I'll look into it when I have some time.
It's 6 am now so I really should get some sleep first... ;)

FileZilla Server
(Donationware) (open source: GNU GPL)

AFAIK the author doesn't "ask" for donations, he only makes it easy to *give*
donations. Otherwise he would have to answer the following question every day:
"Thanks for FileZilla! So, where do I send the pizza?" ;-)
[pizza-quote taken from the FileZilla history]
Windows OS: Windows 95/98/NT/2000/XP (Can run as a service on WinNT/2000/XP)
Languages: English, French, German, Hungarian, Polish, Spanish

At least also the following languages are available (but maybe not complete?):
traditional Chinese, simplified Chinese, Bulgarian, Czech, Italian, Catalan,
Norwegian, Slowak, Japanese and Korean.
Is there a page with more *information* about the program - the FAQ was
the best I could find. . .

A little more here:
