I recommend the removal of Amaya, based upon experience from 6-7
months ago.

REM, you made me curios - what experience? Experience in this group?
Your personal experience? Is it nagware/crippleware issue, or is it
just that some think it is not a very good app, or something else?

Hi Bjorn!

Yes, I had a class in which I was to review Amaya on a web page
created with Amaya. I chose it because it was PL!

This was the buggiest program I think I have ever ran. We had a short
discussion about it and the consensus was that it was indeed a buggy
program that probably should have never made the PL list. I ended up
hand coding much of the review page due to Amaya locking up.

Several threads here:

<http://groups.google.com/groups?as_...xd=2&as_maxm=10&as_maxy=2004&lr=&num=50&hl=en>

This was 6-7 months ago and it is open source. I don't really do
WYSIWYG. It's possible I tried the program at a particularily bad time
and that the problems have been fixed.

We did explore other wysiwyg editors and NVU was my choice. I don't do
editing of this sort though, so someone who uses wysiwyg currently is
in a better position than I to recommend a better one than Amaya.

Feel free to set the record straight if the current version works
correctly.

Oops, sort by date for the correct order of posts.

It's sorted on relevance above.

OK, thanks REM. I'll look at those threads. I guess if the program is
as buggy as you experienced it, it is only appropriate to warn against
it before and during the vote. It is another question I think if this
warrants removing it from the nominations list.

IMO discussion of problem apps now is *highly* appropriate.

Removals can be requested after the voting - during the final selection
process - if you feel a program is not a good choice for the PL.

IOW - since the ballot doesn't have *no* votes for buggy programs -
there is a provision for the group to veto an app *after* the vote.
