Every time I try to load an avi file or any graphics files I get a box which
says" Please wait while Windows configures PhotoGallery"

Then it runs through many times before the file loads.

How can I fix this?

Change your default graphics viewer from Photo Gallery to Windows
Picture and Fax viewer. Rightclick any graphic (usually ending with JPG)
and click Open With and select the viewer of your choice. Use Windows
Explorer to do this and then under Tools>Folder Options>View tab select
Apply to all folders>Apply>OK
