Persistent unwanted toolbar

P

Paula

My husband accidentally loaded a bunch of spyware today,
which I just cleaned off with Spybot (as I noticed it was
recommended a few times for similar issues).
Unfortunately, it didn't resolve my toolbar issue.

I currently have the following toolbars (not all being
used at the same time): Standard Buttons, Address Bar,
Links, Google, Yahoo! Canada Companion, and Norton
Antivirus.

This unwanted toolbar with Microsoft buttons hi-jacked the
Google name, so now the Google toolbar is called
bxemstcktrl.

When I unselect Google, and select bxemstcktrl, Norton,
and Yahoo!, everything looks good until I go to a new
website. Then, it reverts back to the Microsoft toolbar
and hides the other three. I'm really getting annoyed
with this. What's most frustrating is that my husband
thought he was downloading an update for Messenger when he
got all this other crap instead!!! Do they often do
this?!?

Thanx in advance for your advice. Please post to the
group, as I do not wish to share my email address in this
public forum. ciao Paula
