Palm Pilot and Windows XP

Dan

I am not sure if any one can help me, but I recently
upgraded my computer to XP SP1. I have a Palm Pilot m125
that I was using, but I lost the install disk for it. I
downloaded the software off of Palm's site and I connect
my cradle through a USB port but I am not able to
syncronize it up any more. The USB port is good I tried
other things in it and they work. If any one has any
suggestions or have had a similar problem I am all ears.

Thank you very much,
Dan

Did you just upgrade to SP1 ?, if so did you uninstall the
original Palm software ? The reason I ask is that the conduit
software (AvantGo) that makes the connection from Outlook
to the Palm may be missing ? That's not normally part of the
Palm software updates, but is found on the original CD.

To check for the Conduit, Open Control Panel (Classic View)
and see if you have a applet called "AvantGo Connect".

....actually, AvantGo isn't the Outlook sync conduit - I think you are
referring to Chapura PocketMirror, which is/was bundled on certain Palm CDs.

What happens when you try to sync?
If you right-click on the hotsync icon, is USB selected?
Are you trying to sync to the Palm Desktop app or to Outlook? If Outlook,
you need a third party conduit like Chapura PocketMirror (www.chapura.com)
or Pumatech Intellisync (www.pumatech.com) . If you don't have the original
CD that had Chapura on it, you'll need to buy one or the other of the above
add-ins.

Thanks for the correction - I've gotten use to my Pocket PC &
just put it AvantGo. It's been a while since I've worked with Palm
Pilots.

No prob. I personally had such bad ActiveStink experiences I was very happy
to return to the native simplicity of Palm & Hotsync!

If you ever find the answer could you please let me know what it is. I have
tried everything . Gave up on syncing with outlook , now will be happy just
to sync with palm desktop. Constantly get the error message that windows does
not recognise the usb device. My email address is (e-mail address removed). It
would be greatly appreciated.

Make sure the Palm Pilot is pluged in to the USB first. See if there's a
yellow Question mark in the device manager. If there is, re-install the driver
from the device manager.

I've done all the same things and can't get my palm pilot to syncronize with
MSN Calendar!! Does anyone have a clue on how to do this? I have a Palm One
Zire 31 and really need to be able to sync my Palm with my MSN Calendar! I
can't even figure out how to make sure my palm is being recognized as
utilizing a USB port!! Please help!!

You are asking in the wrong place. It is not a responsibility of
Microsoft to make a conduit between your Palm device and the on-line
calendar of MSN. A third party developer, such as Palm or some other
company, would need to develop this conduit.
