Palm Pilot/XP override?

Can anyone help me with this? I did a full install of windows xp home edition. Then, I copied my palm pilot information from the backup that I had done to the pc. For some reason, none of the information is there

When I take the same disc and put it in another computer (running with windows 98), the information is indeed there. It's like windows xp has performed some sort of override when I copied it onto the pc

Any ideas?

If your palm info is still on the palm you didn't need backup. Just
reinstall the software and Hotsync and your fine.
