Paint.NET 2.6.1 freezes ZoneAlarm Pro on XP

M

Merci

After reading about it in this newsgroup, I finally decided to try
Paint.NET 2.6.1. I installed it and when I rebooted, my ZoneAlarm Pro
was frozen. I right-clicked on it and the menu came up and froze. I
could not select any of the menu options, get rid of the menu, or access
my ZoneAlarm. All other programs, including Paint.NET, seemed to work
fine. When I uninstalled Paint.NET, ZoneAlarm functionality returned to
normal. Is there a workaround for this problem? By the way it's XP Pro SP2.

How about switching to PhotoFiltre?

Here are some other ways.

Paint.NET freezes zonealarm

Paint.NET forum

Well, the forum was the first thing I tried. Nothing there about this
problem. Nothing in Google either.

Can it do more than Paint.NET?
I also have Photoshop Elements 2.0 installed. Is it better than that?

You are probably in the best position to work that out Merci, here are
some more to look at.

Here is my info, links are like us, they die. If any of these links are
dead or are no longer freeware, at least you have the name of the
program which you put into a search engine like Google & maybe you can
let me know the latest info.
I am not recommending anything, my list gives you a starting point to
find something to suit your operating system ( most people do not even
mention it ) & skill level. What will work on my computer, may not be
happy on yours. What I can understand, re how to install & run, may not
apply to you.

I am using Paint.Net 2.61 with ZoneAlarm Pro 6.1.744.001 without any
problems under XPprof. Maybe some conflicts with the MS.Net Framework
itself ... do you use version 2.0 ?

Yes. I uninstalled Paint.NET and rebooted. Then I turned off my firewall
and every other startup item and reinstalled Paint.Net. Rebooted and
re-enabled ZoneAlarm and other startups. Everything seems to be working
now. The freeze problem is gone.
