page cannot be displayed when trying to browse in IE6 on Win XP home Edition SP2

Can someone tell me how to fix when you try to get into a
site it always comes up with "The page cannot be
displayed
The page you are looking for is currently unavailable.
The Web site might be experiencing technical
difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser
settings.

This happens everytime i try to get on to a web site plz
help?
