"outlook reached maximum size"

Hi,
I've received the message "outlook reached maximum size".
I have googled and there are some "fixes" for it but I wonder
whether it's possible to fix the error using Windows tools?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for reply.

It's Office Outlook 2007 and the same occurred with Office Outlook 2003.
I uninstalled Office 2007 and installed Office 2003, but it was even worse.

This is what it says in brief :
"Outlook. Outlook.pst has reached its maximum size?"

But longer message was as follows :

" The file C:\Documents and Settings\Application data\
Microsoft\Outlook\\Outlook2 (pst)
has reached its maximum size. To reduce the amount of data in its file-
select some items that you no longer need and permanently delete them by
pressing SHIFT+DELETE. You could also consider using the new Outlook
Personal Folder file (.pst) introduced with Outlook 2003 that provides
greater
capacity for storing items and folders."

Was this PST file created in Outlook 2002 or earlier? Older versions of
Outlook had a PST size limit of 2 GB but can experience problems by about
1.6 GB or so. This isn't specific to Outlook 2003 or 2007 so you didn't have
to downgrade. You can uninstall 2003 and reinstall 2007.

What you need to do is create a new PST for Outlook to use and drag and drop
items from your old PST into the new one.

Thank you Kathleen, for help.
Indeed, I did uninstall Outlook 2003 and reinstall
Outlook 2007. But still the same problem occurs.
I'll experiment tomorrow using your advice.
Thaks for now - Jdr
