Outlook 2003 using a unicode (default) data file has no such limit (2gb) as
far as I'm aware the only way you will receive any such warning is if the
size limits have been set in the registry.
The only way to confirm this is by using the link I posted earlier to
determine whether indeed these settings have been used - whether its a home
PC makes no difference

This board didn't allow me to respond yeaterdy. Somrthing was wrong and
the
"reply" window wouldn't open up. I already mentioned in my very first
question that the PST file size did increase over 2GB. The use of the
tool:
PST2GB.exe, although working as stated, proved to be extremely slow and
inefficient (reducing the size 25MB at a time.) I gave up on it and use
a
suggestion by someone to just change my mail profile and transfer only
the
"must have" files from the old profile (i.e., calander, Contacts,
tasks.)
Since most of the oberflow concentrated with the "sent" file, the
problem
was
instantly resolved.

Your PST file is oversized. Microsoft Outlook 2002 and earlier versions limit the size of Personal Folders (PST) file to 2GB. Whenever the PST file reaches or exceeds that limit, you will not be able to open or load it any more, or you cannot add any new data to it. This is called oversized PST file problem. You can use Advanced Outlook Repair to solve the problem, by either converting it into Outlook 2003 format ( http://www.datanumen.com/aor/problems/convert-2gb-pst.htm ), or splitting it into smaller pieces ( http://www.datanumen.com/aor/problems/split-2gb-pst.htm )

I was reviewing this thread because I am having the same problem. We just
upgraded our hardware and changed from Microsoft 2000 to Microsoft 2007. The
IT person we hired evidently copied my old Outlook.pst folder to the new
workstation. I set up a new personal folder and attempted to copy the old
Outlook.pst folder into the new folder but the system will not let me. I
also cannot open the old folder to delete any items. What will happen if I
set the new folder as my default folder?

You opened the old set of Personal Folders in OL, but you are unable to view
or copy anything from it to the new data file?
Upgraded hardware, does this mean a new PC, if so how did you move your old
data file to the new system

If you set the new as default any new mail will go there, I would imagine if
your old file is the default and you cannot do anything with it, then its
not receiving mail iether.
What size is the old data file?
