When I try to open certain email messages I get a box that says "Please wait while
Windows configures Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1 Professional." Then it ask for the Office

Outlook express isn't in Office it comes with Windows. You must mean
Microsoft Outlook. Outlook needs a componant off the disc to run properly.
If you can't find the disc you could borrow a disc from a friend or contact
microsoft for a replacement. Use Outlook express for the time being for
emails.

A search on the string at Microsoft's support knowledgebase often turns up
articles to assist you with the problem, like:

Is OE your default Mail Client in IE Tools > Internet Options > Programs >
Mail?

Are you opening the messages from within OE?

Perchance are you trying to Reply (to Sender) to a newsgroup post?
