preparing to install

On Win XP Pro, open any Office 2000 program (Word,
Access, PPT, Excel) and the Windows Installer window
opens with 'Preparing to Install...' and continues on
to 'Please wait while Windows configures MS office SR-1
Professional.' Inserting the Office CD does not fix.
Suggestions?

Dude

You have to be using the same version of office that was
originally installed. There is office standard, office
professional, office premium. Check the CD carefully to
see that it says office 2000 professional.

Thanks for the response Dude. It is Office 2000
Professional and the same CD as when it was originally
installed on this machine. I upgraded from WinME and
reinstalled Office 2000 Pro SP1 after that. I haven't
been able to install any of the patches beyond SP1. I
wonder if that is the issue as SP2 had been installed
with WinME. ?? Thank you.
