Outlook Express as default mail program in IE

IE will not allow me to choose Outlook Express as my mail
program in Tools, Internet Options, Programs dialog
screen. regular Outlook is the only choice offered.
Outlook Express IS set up as my default mail handler. But
I cannot send an email from within IE, either by choosing
Send on the file menu, or by clicking a link on a Web
site. How do I get IE to recognize my default mail
program? It recognized OE as my default news handler, but
not the mail.

Go to Start | Run and type the following:

"C:\PROGRAM FILES\OUTLOOK EXPRESS\MSIMN.EXE" /reg

(Check the path to msimn.exe to make sure that is correct)

Make certain to include the quotations marks and the space between the
ending quotation mark and the slash. Recommend if the path is correct, you
just copy/paste the line above into the Start/Run line.

Then open Internet Explorer and go to Tools\Internet Options\Programs and
set OE as the default mail (and news) program.
