organise Favourites

I checked this forum's sorting advice for the my Favourites folder. As
instructed I cliked Favourites, and then selected a single Favourite icon
from the list, right clicked it, and then looked for the Sort by Name
option... could not find it?
I am missing something obvious I know. Help?

I found my answer. You have to click the WORD Favourites, not the icon. It
works great. Thanks!

Hi Roger :)

You don't mention the version of Windows you are using, but, you might try
the information below and see if it helps:

Courtesy of Jon Kennedy -
Something is messing with the registry key that stores this information:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MenuOrder\Favorites
Key = Order

Are you using the Enable Personalized Favorites Menu setting in
Tools...Internet Options...Advanced tab, Browsing section? If so, uncheck,
click Apply, click Okay - see if that helps.

If no joy, are you using any third-party software, such as a
bookmark/favorites manager, or something else that writes to your favorites?
Have you done a spyware/malware scan lately?

I've also seen where adding Favorites via different IE windows in a session
can get the order messed up as well.
========================================

Also...you may have a corrpt Favorites folder and need to create a new one:

First, backup your Favorites:

Go to your Users folder>Favorites> and copy all the favorites in the folder.
Create a new folder called Favorites_Backup and paste all the Favorites in
that folder. Then create a new Favorites folder as per the instructions
here:
http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/archive/answers3.htm#favorites
You can then copy the Favorites from the backup folder into the new folder
and they should work ok.

Also, you can use this free ulitity program to backup all your IE files:
BackRex - Internet Explorer Backup - Free Download
http://www.backsettings.com/internet-explorer-backup.html
Backsup all IE files, including Cookies and Favorites
I use this program and like it very much.

Hope this helps.

I found my answer and it was so simple. I had to clik the WORD Favourites on
the toolbar NOT the icon. It works great.
Thanks for the reply.
