Opening video files with different extensions

Can someone tell me how to reverse an error that was made? Someone using my pc received an e mail with a .rm extension, and tried to open it with photoshop or something like that - a program that does not support .rm files. Now any attempt to open an .rm file cannot be seen because of this. How can I reverse this so that the files can be opened properly?

Go to Windows explorer...select Tools/folder options and then select file
types tab. Find the rm extension and associate it with realplayer.

Thanks, Mark - after reading your post I realized that I had to install realplayer; the association corrected itself automatically after installation was completed.
