Hi again Group,

I just put in 2 x 512 MB RAM into my XP Pro (AMD 2500) computer. Now my
"system Properties" is telling me that I only have 448MB. What have I done
wrong? Help would be greatly appreciated

64MB used for on-board video on your motherboard?

My GOD man - Learn to crosspost! This multiple posting is getting old FAST!

Did you make sure (manuals) that your computer (hardware) could handle that
much RAM?
If you did, did you verify the type/speed?
If you did, did you verify the placement?

Yes Ken, and??? How do I change it?

You don't--short of buying a separate video card, and turning off
the onboard video.

It's the nature of the hardware you have.

Use Start - Run - MSCONFIG and go to the BOOT.INI tab.
Click on the Advanced Options button and make sure that the checkbox
for the /MAXMEM= line is clear and that there is nothing in the value
box on that line.

Shutdown and restart the computer to put any changes you made to
BOOT.INI into effect.

Good luck

Jeez! Don't you mean it's irrelevant to his OP? Why not
answer his actual question?

It's not relevant to the question, Geddy.
Is there a setting on "System ROM? aka CMOS ROM and a few
other things? The one you access during bootup. Did you
install the RAM per the MB's instructions? Right bank,
right mix, etc.?
