Two questions:

1) Maybe we should rename this group to alt.comp.gmail;

or

2) Maybe it is a good idea to mark posts and requests regarding Gmail
as (O.T.) (for filtering purposes).

Gmail is fairly easy to filter on.

3) Direct people to comp.mail.misc.

With kind regards,

I don't mean to be picky or anything, but usually, when a post is marked
off-topic, it is labeled "[OT]", not "(O.T.)". Without consistency, your
filter will do you no good... ie. your post got past my "[OT]" filter...

Maybe you are right. But as far as I know there is no real consensus
about (O.T.), [OT], (OT), [O.T.], OT, or any other way to mark posts as
Off Topic.

With kind regards,

I had been wondering about that myself. *But*, I do understand that
those who have invitations would prefer to share them with a group they
feel friendly with.
2) Maybe it is a good idea to mark posts and requests regarding Gmail
as (O.T.) (for filtering purposes).

Like jo said, the word Gmail is fairly easy to filter on.

Or then again, maybe if everyone on here reads this:
http://www.gmail-is-too-creepy.com/
there will be absolutely NO need to mark gmail stuff OT because no one
will be interested!

Anne

And his or her using Yahoo or Hotmail accounts any different?
I find Yahoo cookies from places that have never said they were affiliated
with Yahoo.
Got something to hide? I don't.
So don't use Gmail.
Just more paranoia stuff.
But OT.
