Nvidia to ATI

I have an Radeon 9100 that I plan to install in my system that
is running a Nvidia GF2Ti. What's the best way to install the new ATI
card so I don't run into conflicts with drivers. How do I complete
remove the Detonator drivers. BTW, do I have to reinstall Directx
9.0b as well?

You aren't going to want to hear this.. but a complete reinstall of the o/s is
the most through. When I changed my Ti4400 to a 9700 PRO I luckly upgraded from
98 to XP. With the fresh install I didn't run into ANY problems and the system
was much faster. IF you havn't formated your main drive for over 6 months.. go
ahead and do it. It's worth it.

I went from a GF4 to a 9700 Pro recently, just did an uninstall of the
Detonator drivers, swap the card over, install the Catalyst drivers
and control panel and all worked fine, YMMV though. You don't need to
reinstall DX9.

I agree with Pluvious. Format and start from scratch. Should you have any
problems with the ATI you'll *know* that they're not due to a driver
conflict *and* a side benny is that your system will probably perform better
without all the garbage dlls, registry entries, etc., which inevitable build
up over the months/years. Having said that your second choice is to
*thoroughly* remove all traces of any nVidia drivers/stuff before following
the ATI install instructions.

I swapped from a GF2 to a Radeon 9700p and I ran Detonator
Destroyer, uninstalled the drivers, did a search for nv*.*
and erased anything Nvidia related and did the same with the registry,
but didn't reinstall DirectX and I've had absolutely no problems.

For what it's worth, I have nVidia and ATI drivers coexisting on my system
with no problems at all. I think that using nVidia's uninstall utillity
should be sufficent in the vast majority of cases.

Went from a GF2 Ti200 to a 9600Pro. Uninstalled the Nvidia drivers through
the 'add/remove', used Det destroyer and then installed the 9600. No probs.
Understand what the original posters are saying about a re-install - it will
get rid of all junk - but it shouldnt be necessary.
