ntldr is compressed

Let's try this again, I'm trying to restore my XP system. I've gone thru both cd's and when I reboot it begins the cycle and then the screen freezes and an error message ' NTLDR is compressed' hit ctrl-alt-del. When I do the sytem comes back to the same error message.

The Windows XP CD - which you would use to reinstall Windows - is a single
CD. What CDs are you talking about?

Did you compress this drive from within another OS? If you did, put it
back
into that system and decompress it.

If you did not compress the drive, something is awry with the boot
files.
To try and get by this problem ...

1. Boot into recovery console.
2. Rename the NTLDR currently there.
3. Reboot and perform a manual repair (choose all options).
