Still Frustrated

have tried to format drive using max blast still get
message, tried using disc wizard still get message, have
tried using windows 98 start up disc & running fdisc &
formatting under dos partitions, windows xp will still not
load fully, gets to loading fat 32 files when message
comes up & set up fails, unhooked all hard drives but this
1 still same message, have installed known good hard drive
with windows xp pro & still get the same message. Could
this be some kind of virus in the bios causing this? When
booted with different hard drive which works in different
machine I get windows could not restart file missing or
corrupt: system32\drivers\NTFS.sys. when rebooting it wil
not get to screen to do repair. Any info is greatly
appreciated!!! Thanks

I would suggest starting over from scratch and perform the installation
of Windows XP correctly:

The Windows XP CD is bootable and contains all the tools necessary
to partition and format your drive. Follow this procedure and allow
Windows XP to partition and format your drive:

NOTE: It would be best to physically disconnect all your peripheral hardware
devices, except the monitor, mouse and keyboard, before installing XP.

1. Open your BIOS and set your "CD Drive as the first bootable device".

2. Insert your Windows XP CD in the CD Drive and reboot your computer.
3. You'll see a message to boot to the CD....follow the instructions.
4. The setup menu will appear and you should elect to delete all the existing
Windows partitions, then create a new partition, then format the primary
partition (preferably NTFS) and proceed to install Windows XP.

5. Clean Install Windows XP

6. ==> Immediately after installing Windows XP, turn on XP's Firewall.

7. After Windows XP is installed, visit the Windows Update website
and download the available "Critical Updates".

8. After installing the critical updates, be sure and visit the support website
of the manufacturer of the computer to download and install any
available Windows XP compatible drivers, such as video adapter
and audio drivers.

That was the first thing that I tried was to just
reinstall windows xp by cd as first boot device. when
windows xp setup starts loading it stops at fat file
system &it displays The file ntfs.sys file corrupted press
any key to continue. When you press a key at the bottom of
the screen it displays "setup failed. press any key to
restart your computer" It will not allow me to install
windows xp pro or repair or format or anything else. This
just started on sunday morning when I turned my computer
on & would not let windows boot up. Any info greatly
appreciated

Thanks
