Not loading websites beginning with DNS

When I try to open a site that begins with a DNS entry or
when I try to click a link out of my hotmail email
account, the site fails to load. An Internet Optimizer
message comes up saying that the site cannot be found. I
never downloaded this program knowingly, so I searched my
program files for it and deleated the program. However, I
am still not able to access these links and am confused as
to why I can't do this anymore. It was fine before this
IO program downloaded itself! Thanks for any
help/suggestions.

Dave,
The first thing to do is to scan your system for the possibility of
unknown\unwanted spyware or parasites that may be causing your problem(s).
