not able to go into Stand-By mode

Whenever I try to go into stand by mode, the screen goes black, but the
lights and the fan stay on. This problem is fairly new (it used to work
fine). Why doesn't it go into the regular stand by mode, and what should I do?
Thank-you.

Hi,

It maybe a problem related to the graphic card;

check the following link;

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306676/en-us

also you could see if there is any software costing this problem

click on ; start--run--msconfig--services.
hide microsoft services
disable all the non-microsoft services
click ok ang go into standby mode

Espero que esta informacion sea util

Thank-you for your answer Rick,
However, I have recently formatted my computer, and since then have added
many things to it. I don't know when exactly this problem started, so I can't
really know what may cause it. Is there another way of fixing this?
Thank-you.

Hi,

No, not really. You need to isolate the culprit, and that sometimes can be
tedious.
