Norton System Works 2003

Hi,
Yesterday my norton anti virus program started acting up
and will not run speed disk, fast & safe cleanup, and a
few more things, it does do live update and anti virus
scans, don't understand what happened here, have tried to
find the answer on Symantec to no avail.
Is there another anti virus program that is better than
Norton? Would appreciate any feed back I can get.
Thank you
Bonnie

Anti-virus is a separate module from Speed Disk or Fast & Safe cleanup.

You can try to find AVG Free. This is a free anti-virus program but it does
not offer any support because it is free.

I am assuming your operating system is XP.
Try: Start>Run>type "chkdsk /f" without quotes and note the space before the
/. A window will open saying chkdsk can not run because it is in use by
another program (i.e. Norton Utilities) do you want to schedule at next
startup : type Y and "enter". Then do a restart and your hard drive will be
checked for errors before re-booting. Takes a few minutes to run. I have
noted your same problem in the past and I also run Norton Utilities 2003 and
this usually clears up the problem. Norton does seem a little buggie these
days. Hope this helps.
Let the group know if this works.

Hi:

If all that the previous have recommended do not resolve the issue then
you probably have corrupted the Utilities and Clean Up programs within NSW
2003. Therefore I recommend that you do a complete uninstall and reinstall
of NSW 2003. I aways also unistall Live Update when I do a complete
uninstall, as it is listed separately.
