I have Win2k with SP4. I just got Norton Ghost 2003.

When I try to "backup" using Ghost, it does not see my C drive (which happens to be in NTFS format".

So my "source drive" is not showing up.

What is the problem.

I use a Micron Notebook.

Thanks much,

Do you know how to use Ghost ?

It has NO problems seeing a NTFS partition (unless you are using a PC/MS-DOS Boot Disk and
are trying to restore a Ghost Image [*.GHO] to a platform and the image was stored on a NTFS
partition.)

Did you create a Ghost Boot Disk ?

How are you performing said backup ?

Have you considered that this is OT and should have been posted to:

Since you are familiar with Ghost, maybe you could answer these questions.

I have a C drive on my notebook and an F drive that is portable. What I am looking for is a way to
restore my C drive when I travel, if it crashes. I carry my F drive with me.

Is this something Ghost does? If this is the case, what is the steps to do this.

In Norton Ghost, I went through the wizard to "backup my computer to an image drive".
I typed next:

It asks me what partition do I want to backup. However, my C drive is not seen.

What steps should I be doing to get this to work? I already went to the Norton Web site,
and did not find where to set up a source drive. However, they mentioned what to do, if the
destination drive was not seen. However, that is not my problem.

Thanks much,

I certainly am. I use Ghost 2003 personally and use Ghost Enterprise professionally.

You carry a drive with you ? USB or FireWire ?
If so, you create a Ghost Boot Disk with the Norton Ghost Boot Wizard. Create a "Standard
Ghost Boot Disk"
Boot from Ghost Boot Disk with the external drive connected to to the notebook. Choose
Local and then perform a Drive to Image backup. This will create a compressed image of the
notebook on the external hard disk.

I am not sure. I have a CMS PCMCIA slot that the drive plugs into.

Dave,

I still think, that the software does not see my C drive, because when I select source from the Gui,
no driive is showing up. Is this normal?
