Norton Antivirus failing to start after restore of Win2K

I have Win2K with SP4 and Norton Antivirus 9.05.15.

There are times that I restore Win2k after I have problems.

What I usually backup is Winnt and Program files. Norton is under Program files.

However, after I restore files, Norton can not start.

The procedure I use, is to restore from another instance on another drive. This works great, except
for Norton.

There must be some files under C drive that I need to back up also. Any ideas.

Thanks much,

PS. I also backup Document and settings.

So the directories I copy are:

c:\program files
c:\winnt
c:\document settings

So there must be some hidden files that I am missing.

I just don't know what.

Thanks much,

- Larry

You didn't happen to upgrade from NT 4? I know Norton
stores some files in the All Users profile under
application settings.

Steve, This was a fresh install several months ago. I have Win2k with SP4 and all security patches
from Micrsoft. I run Norton Antivirus Live Update daily.

However, when I restore these directories :

c:\program files
c:\winnt
c:\document settings

I get an error from Norton on startup.

I was thinking there may be some hidden files in C:\ that I may need.

However, I have used this process of restoring Win2k and NT for years and never had a problem
before.

So the concept, is I am backing up all files (obviously, missing something), from another instance
of Win2k. Everything restores fine, except Norton Antivirus.

Thanks much,

From what I've seen this is a conflict between Symantec, and one or more of the hotpatches
including the last highly publicized security breech having to do with Slammer, Blaster, and
couple others. Sorry, if I haven't imparted any additional knowledge.

Don,

Thanks for your help.

I was hoping for a solution. Presently, I have to completely uninstall then reinstall Norton.
