Norton and Napster

Brian

When the "new" Napster rolled out, I immediately joined and installed their
software. Upon rebooting, I noticed that it "unactivated" my Norton Internet
Security 2004 and the only way to fix it was to reinstall windows.

Norton tried to research it but never got back with me..I contacted them
recently and no one else has reported the issue. I wanted to try to install
Napster again (mainly for their unlimited download feature) but I am afraid
of it happening again. Did anyone else have this problem?

Norton suggested this:

If installing the Napster causes any issues, it could happen due to
conflicts with the files loading on startup. I suggest that you uncheck the
files related to Napster software from startup and check if the issue
persists. Please perform the steps provided below:

1. Click on Start --> Run.
2. In the command line, type 'msconfig' and click on OK.
3. Click on the Startup tab.
4. Please deselect all the applications related to Napster and click on OK.
To find out the Napster applications loading at the startup, please contact
Napster technical support.
5. Restart your computer and check if the issue persists.

A better way to do that is to check in the options of Napster and see if
there is an option to not allow Napster to load at Startup.

Well, I took a chance and downloaded Napster again..so far, so good..NIS did
ask a "profile" question after a reboot (Office, Home, etc) but so far, no
unactivating..might have been the EARLY Napster version causing issues.
