"No internet connection is currently available"

ALright, I have searched everywhere for a solution and have found none. I am
running a laptop with XP Home SP2. Everything was fine until a couple of
weeks ago. My internet connection is fine, but sometimes when I start IE6 up
or go to a different page I'll get the "work offline / retry" screen. When I
click retry, I get on no problem.

I have followed the Microsoft KB article on the "No internet...", but it is
specifically for Win 98. I have Microsoft's Anti-Spyware running, I have run
and re-run Ad-aware and Spybot S&D fully updated. No problems. I have deleted
my cache, cookies , and history. I still periodically get the "No
internet..." screen.

I installed Firefox and have no problems. Any ideas?

WinXP SP2: go to Start | Run and type
CMD
In the command window type
netsh winsock reset

I tried this and re-booted. When I logged my wife off of Ebay, I got the same
"No connection..." message. When I click retry it gets on no problem.
