loosing internet connection

When I get home in the evening I notice that my internet connection was lost.
I get a message "retry or work offline" When I hit retry in reconnects no
problem. This is a concern for me because I have Outlook express programmed
to forward certain email to me at work during the day. The lost connection
also cuts off the email. Does anyone know of a solution? Thanks.

Click on Internet Options in Control Panel > go to the "Connections" "tab" >
check > "Dial whenever a connection is not present" > Apply > OK out.
Close Control Panel.
See if that helps - if you leave your Internet connection running for lengthy
periods, some Internet service providers (ISP's) drop connections if there
is no activity on the account.

I do not have dial up. I have high speed cable. That area is shaded out.

I wasn't assuming you were on dial-up, Jay...
Exactly what is shaded out?

Also check in device manager..right click your NIC..properties and make sure
allow the computer to shut off this device to save power is not checked.

Thanks Ricky. It was checkd and I unchecked it. Do you think that will solve
the issue?

Hi RIcky,

Looks like the problem is happening again. I came home today and I had
lost the connection. The "allow the computer to shut off this device to save
power" was not checked as you suggested. Any thoughts? Thanks.
