no internet access

I have a netgear wgr614v4 router, a pc with windows 2000 and a laptop with
windows xp home edition.

I can connect to the internet using the pc but cannot connect to the
internet using the laptop whether wireless or wired local connection. I
cannot log onto the router from the laptop but both connections on the
laptop indicate that the connections both local and wireless are good
connections. Whether trying to log onto the internet or the routher the
indication on the browser is " cannot connect to server.
I've checked everything and all seems to be correct.
Can anyone help????????

Is the IP address of the laptop on the same subnet as the router? If the
NIC in the laptop is set to get the address automatically, and the
router is set to provide DHCP, the answer is yes. Verify this by opening
a command prompt and entering ipconfig.
If the IP is on the same subnet as the router, can you ping the router
(also from the command prompt)?
