No idea what is happening!

Danielle

When I open Internet Explorer, I can not change my homepage. I have run a
virus scan and deleted any threats, but it remains.

Some website I can not open, IE aborts itself.

My Norton Anti-Virus will no longer keep the Auto Protect on, or the email
scanning on. I have corrected everything in the registry as instructed by
Norton.

My anti-virus takes an hour to run!

I upgraded to the SP2, however, this was happening before.

It seems to mostly be my IE and Norton that are having the problems.

Can anyone help me?? Please

Thanks

Uh, oh! You Better Call Macco

Your computer is broken. Get a new computer. The one you have is crap. If
you still have the same problem after buying a new computer them maybe you
should think about buying a new user. Buying a new user usually solves about
3% of computer problems. The other 97% of problems are due to Microsoft and
crappy programmers.

My negative 2 cents.

I would select R0 and if you don't know what www.v73.us is then also select
the first R1 for removal and let highjack this remove the settings. Restart
your PC and try to set your homepage to the one you want and see if it's
cleared.
There is also a program called cwshreader from
http://www.snapfiles.com/get/coolwebshredder.html
but I'm not sure that the problem you have is specifically down to cool web
search, but it won't do any harm to try that also.

Very best of luck

Danielle, If you are still having the problem...

I just ran into this problem last night TOO.

You have a malware program called localnrd.dll installed on your PC. It is
listed in
your "hijack" report. To remove this program you will have to do the
following:

(1) find the location of the file -- on my PC it was in C:\WINDOWS
(2) shutdown your PC
(3) restart Windows in its diagnostic (safe mode) mode. Pick the "command
line" start up
mode.
(4) at the command navigate to the directory where the file was located --
on my PC I
entered "cd \windows" (without the double quotes of course.)
(5) delete the file ("del localnrd.dll")
(6) shutdown and restart you computer

If anyone in Microsoft is reading this stuff....

(1) my infection came from www.offeroptimizer.com
(2) the infection program was localnrd.dll and it attached itself to
explorer.exe (not ie)
(3) we have Microsoft Premiere support and I've asked the contact person to
inform you
of this.

Your hompage has been hijacked. Do a google search for anti-hijack
software such as Hijack This!. Also you should download Spybot Search
and Destroy and Adaware, and use both regularly. For your Norton
problem, you are not using a firewall and have been infected with
something that has disabled your Antivirus. Sounds like you have some
serious issues!!!

You need to install and use a good firewall program in addition to you
Av. Norton Personal Firewall is very good, as is the free version of
Zonealarm. All of the items I have mentioned can be found using Google.
Good luck, although if I were in your position, I would seriously
consider wiping the hard drive and starting over.

Bobby

When I open Internet Explorer, I can not change my homepage. I have run
a virus scan and deleted any threats, but it remains.

Some website I can not open, IE aborts itself.

My Norton Anti-Virus will no longer keep the Auto Protect on, or the
email scanning on. I have corrected everything in the registry as
instructed by Norton.

My anti-virus takes an hour to run!

I upgraded to the SP2, however, this was happening before.

It seems to mostly be my IE and Norton that are having the problems.

Can anyone help me?? Please

Thanks
