new sounds

I have IE 6.0 and today, for the first time, I'm getting
a LOUD "blorp-blorp" sound with every web page I'm
visiting. I didn't add any new software or make any
changes. I've tried taking out all the sounds in the
Control Panel without any help. The only way I can get
rid of it is to "mute" the computer sound, which I don't
want to do. What can I do about this???

I am, but the Pest Patrol sound is turned off.

At least we know it's not that, but it is known to make that "drop.wav"
sound when crunching cookies. Is it the same sound as that?

BTW, since you posted this question twice in this newsgroup, examine the
reply for your second posting; there may be an answer for you in that one.

Just read your reply to the above post. Have you run any programs to check
for the presence of Spyware, and Viruses? Sorry, but I am at a loss, if the
aforementioned hasn't been of any help.

At least you're getting some replies, even with the dearth of initial info
that you've provided, unlike my own post (which has been asked for some 4
hours now, in another newsgroup), which stated everything, and still has
gotten *nothing*. :-\
