network problem between xp and 98

Hai all

I have 5 computers connected to a switch.one computer is xp other 3
windows 2000 and

one 98 the problem is (1)the computer with xp loaded cannot acces the
other system

through network plaes. it can only acees by ipaddress from run program.

(2) The other prblem is win 98 computer also cannot acces the other pcs
throuh network neighbourhood'

but it can access by map network places


plz help me

One of the most common causes of this problem would be a misconfigured or
overlooked personal firewall, or other security component. There are several
other possibilities too, and any might be the cause of your problem. Read this

With Windows 98, Windows 2000, and Windows XP on the same LAN, there's always
the possibility of a browser conflict. Windows 9x (93, 98, ME) and Windows NT
(NT, 2000, XP) systems don't work well together.

Look at "browstat status", "ipconfig /all", "net config server", and "net
config workstation", from each computer, and diagnose the problem. Read this
