This could simply be an IP connection problem. I know how you feel it has
happened to me many times and is extremely frustrating. However there isn't
a cure. The connection is in the lap of the god's or in our case the ISP.
However, one thing you can check is that your microphone is 'actually'
switched on in netmeeting. On the netmeeting interface, just below the
picture screen you should see three buttons. The one on the far right should
have a speaker/microphone on it. Click this and make sure that there is a
check mark next to the microphone volume control.
As for you not being able to see each other it may be that the option to
'send video when connected' is not enabled. So click tools and then, in the
drop down menu, click Options. Next click the Video Tab and make sure you
place a check mark in the box next to the option marked 'Automatically send
video at the start of each call'
See if that improves matters. Alternatively, have you considered msn
messenger 6.0 or Windows Messenger5.0? (personally i prefer msn 6.0) You can
now use this to video conference with friends and family who have a hotmail
account. It can be downloaded from the microsoft site, if you haven't
already got it on your pc.
If you do use msn 6.0 make sure you disable windows messenger from starting
at startup before using msn.
