I just installed a program that said it needed
Microsoft.NET framework installed first before it can work.

I have XP pro with SVC pk 1. What does this mean? How do I
install .NET framework?

keep in mind net will change the way you boot up your
comp...

After installing Net Framework, go back to updates and you should find
another update for NF. It will restore the boot to the way it was before NF.
