I am attempting to put Outlook 2003 on several Windows 2000 SP4 machines that
had Groupwise 5.5EP on them. When I try to configure Outlook to connect to
the Exchange 2003 server, I get the following error when I use the check name
button:
"Outlook could not login. Check to make sure you are connected to the
network and are using the proper server and mailbox name. An unexpected error
occurred: MAPI error number: 800706d3"
I've tried everything I can think of. I've removed Groupwise and completely
removed and reinstalled Office 2003. I've tried fixmapi, did a repair and
installed the latest Office SP. I've also removed every MAPI file I could
find before reinstalling. I've been searching for information for days with
no results. I have a hard time believing that I'm the only person who's ever
had these issues. To say that I'm frustrated is beginning to be an
understatement. There has to be a way to fix this without flattening the
machines and starting over. I could really use some help on this.
Unfortunately, I just don't know enough about the MAPI subsystem to begin to
trace what went wrong. TIA
