MAPI Error with Exchange/Outlook 2003

I'm posting this again because I really need some help with this. Could
somebody please help out?

I'm putting Outlook 2003 on a machine that had Groupwise 5.5 EP client on
it. When I try and configure the profile, I get the following error message:

"Outlook could not login. Check to make sure you are connected to the
network and are using the proper server and mailbox name. An unexpected error
occurred: MAPI error number: 800706d3"

I've tried everything I can think of. I've removed Groupwise and completely
removed and reinstalled Office 2003. I've tried fixmapi, did a repair and
installed the latest Office SP. I've also removed every MAPI file I could
find before reinstalling. I've been searching for information for hours with
no results. I have a hard time believing that I'm the only person who's ever
had these issues. To say that I'm frustrated is beginning to be an
understatement. There has to be a way to fix this without flattening the
machine and starting over. I could really use some help on this. Is there a
tool or something that could display the MAPI subsystem so I could trace the
problem. Can I somehow do a complete removal and reinstall of the MAPI
system? Any help would be appreciated. The machine is running Windows 2000
with SP 4. TIA

This issue has sat without replies since 10/14. I have the same problem so I
will not add my own issue. Does Microsoft contribute to this NG at all. If
so the lack of some response is not appropriate. Does any know if Microsoft
has a procedure for this legitimate issue?
