My Documents

Hello

I run xp sp2 home edition.

The path of my My Documents folder is C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My
Documents in hard disk 1. I like to change its location to hard disk 2.

The reason for changing the path is to keep the data of My Documents safe in
hard disk 2 in the unfortunate event of windows crashing. I am not sure
how to go about it. Is it safe to change the path ? Thank you.

The easiest way would be to locate, download and install PowerToys for XP's
Tweak UI.

Hello

Thank you all. I have now changed the default path of My Documents folder.
It is now in its new location with all the data.

What do I do with the empty My Documents folder which is still in this
origianl path : C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents ?

How can I change the default path of my Outlook 2003 ( at present in C:\
hard disk 1 ) with all its sub-folders like Inbox, Sent Items, Deleted
Items, Contacts etc; including data to a new location in hard disk 2 ?
Thank you.

You may remove the old path (the old My Documents folder) now, or leave it
as it is. Programs will now use the redirected path.

For the 2nd question regarding Outlook 2003, it's a better option to try
that question in Office/Outlook newsgroup for more accurate help.
