My Computer

When I open My Computer it takes 30-60 seconds to load. The sub menus are
very quick to load. Any ideas, I have searched online but unable to find a
solution

Without any direction from you as to what might possibly have caused
this, we're only guessing. Here's my guess: Caused by using a registry
cleaner.

Does Event Viewer provide any details?

What is the CPU and how much RAM does your computer have? Right click on
the My Computer icon on your Desktop and select Properties to get this
information.

Try Ctrl+Alt+Delete to select Task Manager and click the Performance
Tab. Under Commit Charge what is the Total, the Limit and the Peak?

How large is your hard disk? How much free space on the disk?

Select Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Disk
CleanUp to Empty your Recycle Bin and Remove Temporary Internet Files.
Also select Start, All Programs, accessories, System Tools, Disk
CleanUp, More Options, System Restore and remove all but the latest
System Restore point.

Hope this helps.

Hello,

Another question that may or may not help is, do you have a cd or dvd in
your cd/dvd drive or drives? Sometimes if a cd or dvd drive is slow to read
the contents of a disc, it may cause My Computer to be slow to report its
contents until the cd/dvd drive(s) report their contents.

I hope this helps at least a little.
