Windows XP Pro My Computer issue

Hi,
I have recently had my computer "fixed" by the company that built it. Since
I got it back I find that My Computer takes an age to load. Nothing else
seems to be affected - even Windows Explorer loads immediately, but each time
I try to open My Computer it hangs. I am sure that it is looking for
something that it expects to find but can't. Can anyone tell me how to sort
the problem out? Even knowing how to find what it might be that My Computer
is searching for would help.

What appears in Event Viewer?

Please post copies of all Error and Warning Reports appearing in
the System and Application logs in Event Viewer for the last boot. No
Information Reports or Duplicates please. Indicate which also appear in
a previous boot.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Control Panel,
Administrative Tools, and Event Viewer. When researching the meaning
of the error, information regarding Event ID, Source and Description
are important.

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double
click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a
button resembling two pages. Click the button and close Event
Viewer.Now start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of
the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting from
Event Viewer.

I have no idea why the printer was deleted. It was certainly not an action I
carried out. Thanks for your help.

Is your computer standalone or part of a network.

The first Event Viewer report is a Warning and not an Information Report
so the information on the Event ID site and the corresponding Microsoft
site do not necessarily apply to your situation. The three would appear
to have a common thread so I would concentrate efforts on Event ID:3.
However, it would be unwise to expend too much effort on a single series
of errors. Many errors are resolving by simply restarting the computer.
